A Journey of Gratitude
I never think about anything but waking up and giving thanks. There are days when I wake up with nothing in my hands—no money, no food, and nothing for my children to eat. I remember those days vividly. They were hard. While some people wake up to a well-spread table, others face empty plates. Yet, even in emptiness, some shine as if the world is at their feet. It feels like they hold everything in the palm of their hands.
I know their hands may seem full, but I also know that Jesus has holes in His hands. Those nail prints remind me that He holds us in the hollow of His hands. Waking up feeling like you own the world must be a wonderful feeling. It’s as if everything belongs to you, and you can grasp it all. But what about those who wake up and forget to give God thanks? They roll out of bed, rush to work, and forget to acknowledge Him. Yet, they seem to flourish, bearing fruit that makes others envious.
Trusting in God’s Provision
When you feel like you have nothing left, it can be overwhelming. I remember the days when I had to seek God for my needs. I would put the pot on the stove and pray, hoping someone would bring food. I often waited on God because I knew He is my source and my strength.
If you ever wake up and don’t feel like giving thanks, it’s time to check yourself. Look around. Are you still breathing? Can you see the sky above you? If so, there is reason to be thankful. We need to learn to rise each morning and express our gratitude. A simple “Thank you, Lord” can change our perspective. Thank Him for what He has done and for what is yet to come.
Sometimes, it feels like we sneak through life, as if nothing can hold us back. But when we try to move forward, it feels like we’re stuck. Amen. God is an awesome, mighty God. He is my refuge and my strength. I cannot finish this section without acknowledging Him as my Creator, my Savior, and my Lord. He is my strength, and I will praise Him as long as I have breath.
The Struggles We Face
It can feel like every step I take is a failure. Every turn leads to another blockage. The struggle is real. But I remind myself that God is able. He never lets me down, no matter where I am in life. Despite my ups and downs, I know He will guide me through.
Sometimes, sadness seems to linger. Obstacles appear, making it hard to achieve our goals. But we must keep pressing on, even when we feel like we have nothing left. The feeling of emptiness is often larger in our minds than in reality. It can overshadow our faith and trust in God.
A Gut-Wrenching Reality
I recall walking into my home one evening and hearing my children say there was nothing to eat. That feeling is gut-wrenching. It’s one of the most horrible feelings a parent can experience. The cupboards are empty, and there’s no food to give. I worked hard at a job that didn’t pay enough to feed my family. Yet, I woke up every morning, went to work, and did my best.
At the end of the week, I often found myself weary and broken, yet still unable to provide enough for my family. The phrase “nothing left” echoed in my mind, leaving me wondering what to do next. Life felt stagnant. Every turn led to a roadblock. Every question I asked seemed to hit a wall.
Recognizing Our Blessings
When I hear others talk about going to the hairdresser, getting massages, or enjoying luxuries, I realize how blessed they are. Many people cannot afford such things, and it’s not their fault. If only they knew how fortunate they are! Many would wish for the life they have.
Nothing left. This phrase resonates deeply. It serves as a reminder to appreciate what we have, even in our struggles.
